Gilty Pleasures

Going for the gold?
Not just for Olympians!
Go on a gilt trip this fall . . .

Dig the foruitous alliteration here: Gisele wearing a daring gold Givenchy polyamide lamé dress on the pages of W Magazine.
Christian Lacroix Couture.

What to buy?
Perhaps a gilt topper, like this Milly metallic zigzag coat, available at Bergdorf Goodman
Or a short-sleeved version such as this J. Crew Soleil d’Or jacket, which is currently on sale at jcrew.com
3.1 Phillip Lim Lurex brocade dress.
Visit net-a-porter.com to buy this lovely layering piece!! CC can totally picture it with a swingy topper and patterned tights!
For your first fab fall cocktail party, try a belted D&G metallic floral dress, also at net-a-porter.com.
In small doses, gold sequins can really make an outfit!
How chic is this J. Crew gold Jingle blouse?
Gold Lurex short sleeve cardigan, at topshop.com - an excellent (and affordable!) piece for fall!
For you adventurous types, there are these Kohzo Denim "Goldplated" jeans. Go to vivre.com to buy.
A practical way to be gilt-y (as CC thinks this one might even work for the office, if accessorized approriately)? This 3.1 Phillip Lim metallic a-line skirt. Go to bergdorfgoodman.com to purchase.
As far accessories, go for the gold or just a hint of sparkle, as with this Millions of Smiles striped scarf. Love the gold & navy combo!
Visit shopbop.com

Gold shoes are always a fashion do!
Above:
Runway inspiration:
Matthew Williamson brocade lace-up booties
At left:
Strappy and fabulous Jimmy Choo Elipse leather sandals, at net-a-porter.com.
Remember, darlings, it is acceptable to wear sandals and open-toe shoes with opaque tights for autumn!!
Georgina Goodman metallic Heidi pump, at shopbop.com
CC is not very fond of the gold cowboy boots that have been popping up on her fave shopping web sites, but what about just a hint of gold, as with these Gaspard Yurkievich patent and gold ankle trim cone-heeled boots?
Visit asos.com to buy.
You know about the headband trend, right? Well, how fab is this Eugenia Kim sequin wide woven wrap? Go to shopbop.com to buy.
Metallic bags have been hot for several fall seasons in a row, so it’s safe to say that a Jimmy Choo Ramona gold patent bag is a sound fashion investment. Visit net-a-porter.com to purchase this arm candy (pictured at right)!
Another gold mine, in a distinctive shape: L.A.M.B. Angel Christine tote, pictured above and available at shopbop.com.
If something more petite is what you have in mind, mine for gold with this fabulous Roberto Cavalli foldover metallic clutch, available at net-a-porter.com.
Deal of the day: Botkier for Target wristlet – a mere $19.99!
CC leaves you with this gold medal winner:
a pair of shiny fingerless opera gloves.
Go to glovedup.com to buy.

And (don’t) feel gilt-y about it!!

Oh yes, I really like this trend, a bit difficult to office, as people say if one's going to the night, but with a little effort we can make it ;)

Again great post.

Brilliant! I love the Rue du Mail dress also as well as the millions of smiles scarves. I like how the gold element can work in a nautical/rock star/deco scheme.

I'm a fan of silver, but every now and then I wear some gold, but just a couple of details, fantastic post but it is to much bling for me haha

The older I get, the more and more I like gold. Old lady style, here I come! The lace-up heels are amazing!

hihi CC, i like gold and metallic but all over is too much for me. i will do gold shoes, or handbag. RTW with gold or metallic accents are savvy but too much will make me feel like the tin man. what do you think??

I generally prefer cool metallics but gold can look fantastic when done right. You really have great taste, all these items are brilliant - very chic and classy! Great job CC!

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, I don't have much time for polyvore these days. I should to visit every once in a while because polyvore is wonderful creative outlet.

Take care darling and have a lovely day tomorrow :)

I think gold is good at winter, silver not.

gold is either striking or tacky.

you have to know how to pull it off and not got over the top.
otherwise you just look cheap and tarty.

Ah I love glitz & gold!! & I need to be more daring to wear my headpieces out!!

*drools* I love how you started out with couture for inspiration, and then went down to pret-a-porter and finally high end brands that us fashionistas on a budget can afford.

I touch of gold always gives a little something especially if it's a shoe :)...however, it is also really easy to go overboard and look like a disco ball :P
